The presidency has stated that it is considering an omnibus reform bill that will improve the quality of business across the country. The bill will enclose all the reforms introduced so far into the business sector of the economy in a single legislative framework.

According to reports, the bill is undergoing working preparations by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, PEBEC, Chaired by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.

Dr Jumoke Oduwole, Special Adviser to the President on Ease of Doing Business, has said that having made progress in the transformation of Nigeria’s business climate over the years, PEBEC would in the coming weeks boost the process of consolidating the gains recorded through the enactment of the new law.

She pointed out that main reason for the omnibus bill was to incorporate all the reforms made so far in the sector and basically for ease of implementation.

In addition, Dr. Oduwole posited that for the bill to be feasible, it will liaise with the Nigerian Bar Association, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, the National Business Environment Council and other stakeholders in the private sector.

“the bill is now being reopened for review and further contributions…” she said.
