The Coca Cola Foundation, in partnership with Karis, and Eleos Hand of Hope Foundation, has trained women in Sangotedo, Lagos, in a one-month training titled “Catalyst for change”. The event was aimed at accelerating the recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A hundred out of the 612 graduates were trained in sewing, wig making, baking, tie and dye, soap, shoe and bag making. They were also given free start-up kits.
However, Nwamaka Onyemelukwe, the Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability Manager of Coca Cola Nigeria, in her statement said, ‘Women are not only essential to building thriving communities, we truly believe they represent one of the biggest accelerators to economic growth globally.’
Hon. Folashade Olarotimi, the Women Leader of Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), and Ekhator Esther Clara, the Valedictorian, thanked the sponsors of the empowerment programme.

Chief Rafiu Lawal Ajakaiye, Baale of Sangotedo, represented by Mr. Raman Suleman, also expressed gratitude on behalf of the community to the two foundations.
The guests at the event, included, Comrade Omojole Olabode, NULGE Chairman and Head of Department, Education, Eti-Osa East LCDA, Mrs. Bukola Bamiduro, founder of Karis and Eleos Hand of Hope Foundation, and Mr. Taiwo Adewole, Executive Director, RecyclePoints.
