Following events surrounding the #EndSARS protests in Lagos and the imposed curfew on Monday, the Lagos State Gorvernor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has come out to say that the curfew may be eased on Friday, October 23, 2020.

The Governor in his statement mentioned that once the streets are cleared and nerves relaxed, ‘we might slow down the curfew by tomorrow (Friday) or next tomorrow (Saturday) at the latest.’

However, the peaceful demonstration that erupted on October 5 in a bid to put an end to police brutality have extended to other parts of the country and have been hijacked by hoodlums who have taken advantage of the protest by launching attacks on protesters and also destroyed police stations and other properties in the state.

This public demonstration has posed a very serious challenge to the President and has also affected the economy already struggling under the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The streets of Lagos and Abuja in the early hours of Thursday were reportedly free of protesters and demonstrations in the oil-producing Rivers and Delta states that erupted on Wednesday is also said to have died down. About 10 states in the country have imposed curfews.
