The United States Embassy in Nigeria has announced a new directive for visa applicants with interviews scheduled after January 1, 2025. As part of the new immigration visa process, applicants will be required to make at least two visits to the Consulate General in Lagos.
The first visit will involve an “In-Person Document Review” with a consular officer. This review aims to ensure that applicants are adequately prepared for their visa interviews and allows them to retrieve any missing documents, thereby preventing delays in application processing.
The second visit will be an interview with a Consular Officer, scheduled by the National Visa Center (NVC). Applicants who fail to complete the In-Person Document Review before their visa interview will be required to reschedule their appointment.
According to the embassy, these changes are designed to improve efficiency and minimize delays caused by incomplete documentation. The new process is expected to streamline the visa application process for Nigerian applicants.
