The Nigerian Air Force has launched an investigation into reports of civilian casualties following recent airstrikes in Zamfara State. The airstrikes, which targeted bandits in the Tungar Kara area of the Zurmi Local Government Area, successfully eliminated several bandits and rescued kidnapped victims.
In a statement, Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Olusola Fakinboyewa, said on Monday that the force dealt a decisive blow to the bandits terrorizing villages in the area during the airstrikes.
He added that the operation successfully eliminated several bandits and led to the recovery of some kidnapped victims.
Fakinboyewa also said the force “views with grave concern reports of the loss of civilian lives during the operation.”The Air Force has expressed “grave concern” over reports of civilian casualties during the operation. According to Air Vice Marshal Olusola Fakinboyewa, the force values every Nigerian life and is committed to uncovering the truth behind the reports.A comprehensive investigation is currently underway, and the Air Force has assured the public that it will collaborate with relevant authorities to prevent harm to civilians and civilian infrastructure in the future. The force remains committed to combating banditry and restoring peace in the Northwest region.
