Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, is set to flag off the distribution of N3 billion to victims of the 2024 flood disaster in the state. The governor made this announcement during the 23rd State Executive Council Meeting held at the Kano Government House on Thursday.
The N3 billion fund was donated by the Federal Government as part of its intervention efforts for the 2024 flood disaster, which affected 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The money was remitted to the state treasury a few months ago, and the administration has been working to identify the real victims who will benefit from the gesture.
A statement issued by Governor’s spokesperson Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Wednesday said, Governor Yusuf revealed that the amount was donated by the Federal Government to the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory as intervention for the 2024 flood disaster.
Governor Yusuf assured that the distribution process will be transparent and accountable, with a main and sub-committee set up to disburse the funds across the 44 local government areas. The governor also noted that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) have worked together to track the areas and people affected by the flood.T
