Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, has donated N300 million to support the families of soldiers who lost their lives in the fight against Boko Haram insurgents. The donation, will be disbursed through the “Tribute to Our Troops Charity Foundation,” which honors fallen heroes and supports their families.
Governor Zulum made the announcement after attending the 2025 MNJT Operation Desert Sanity 2 Medal Parade in Njemena, Chad Republic. He praised the Chief of Defence Staff for establishing the foundation, which will care for the welfare of families of deceased soldiers and those wounded in action.
The governor reiterated that despite ongoing challenges, the insurgency in the North East has significantly decreased. He urged the military to intensify efforts to eliminate remaining Boko Haram elements in the Lake Chad region.
Zulum also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership in fighting insecurity in the North East and other parts of the country. The MNJTF medal parade, which began in 2017, honors troops who made the ultimate sacrifice and recognizes the commitment of soldiers and commanders fighting Boko Haram insurgents.
