In a decisive effort to address corruption within its own ranks, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained 10 officers from its Lagos Zonal Command over allegations of theft involving missing operational items.
The EFCC Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, revealed that the arrests were carried out last week under the directive of EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede. The detained officers are currently being interrogated regarding the missing items, with investigators reporting significant progress in the case.
This move aligns with the EFCC’s broader commitment to restoring public trust and reinforcing accountability within the commission. The agency has consistently positioned itself as a staunch opponent of corruption and financial crimes, including those occurring internally.
The Lagos Zonal Command has been at the forefront of recent EFCC operations, including arrests of suspected internet fraudsters. By addressing allegations of internal misconduct, the commission underscores its dedication to fighting corruption at all levels and promoting transparency.
