A road accident occurred along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway on Friday leaving at least eight people injured. The incident involved a passenger bus, commonly known as a ‘Molue,’ which lost control while traveling at excessive speed.

According to Adebayo Taofiq, spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the bus was attempting to avoid colliding with pedestrians at the Ahmadiya bus stop when it veered sharply and crashed into the expressway median.

The bus, registered as KTU 801 XM, was traveling inward toward Abule-Egba when the accident occurred. The impact caused severe damage and injuries to multiple passengers, with some escaping through the bus’s windows.

LASTMA officers promptly responded to the scene, executing a well-coordinated rescue operation. The accident resulted in slow traffic movement along the axis, causing disruptions to commuters.The incident highlights the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to exercise caution and patience while driving.

Authorities are urging drivers to adhere to speed limits and traffic regulations to prevent such accidents in the future.
