German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will arrive in Nigeria on Tuesday, for a three-day official visit, scheduled to conclude on December 12, 2024. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations between Germany and Nigeria to enhance economic cooperation and cultural exchange.
During his stay, President Steinmeier will meet with key Nigerian figures, including President Bola Tinubu and Dr. Alieu Touray, President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission. In Abuja, he will engage in discussions with Nigerian officials to explore opportunities for cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, and development.
The German President will also travel to Lagos, where he will interact with business leaders, visit a start-up hub, and meet with prominent individuals from Nigeria’s cultural and civil society sectors. These include renowned artist Dr. Nike Okundaye and Nobel Prize-winning author Prof. Wole Soyinka.
In addition, President Steinmeier will embark on a tour of Lagos to gain insights into the challenges and opportunities involved in the urban development of Africa’s largest city. He will be accompanied by a delegation of German business leaders, representing some of Germany’s most successful companies in the fields of IT, high-tech, and energy.
This visit underscores the growing interest of German businesses in investing in Nigeria and highlights the potential for strengthened economic cooperation between the two nations.
