President Muhammadu Buhari paid a visit to Ogun State today, Thursday 13th January, 2022 to commission landmark development projects which were undertaken by the Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun.
The President was greeted on arrival at the Lagos Airport by the Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun; the former governor of the state, Gbenga Daniel; the governor of Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as well as other dignitaries.
While being accompanied by the Governor Dapo Abiodun during the visit in the morning, President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned the 14km Epe/Ijebuode Express Road in the state.
He is also scheduled to be at Sagamu interchange, at which point he will be expected to commission the 42km Abeokuta/Sagamu road as well as the Ogun city gate
The President is also expected to later commission two housing projects. 83 duplexes located at Kings Court Estate at Oke Mosan, which was developed by the Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC), it lies in the state capital in Abeokuta. The second housing project is located at Kopabe, it is a low and medium Housing Scheme of 527 units.
The President is thereafter scheduled to hold a town hall meeting with the party faithful, as well as some critical stakeholders. The stipulated venue is the June 12 cultural centre located in Abeokuta, the state capital.
According to a statement released on Monday 10th January, 2022 by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, detailing the Presidents itinerary for the day, the President is expected to return to Abuja later today.
According to the Governor, the projects which are being commissioned are intended for the advancement of socio-economic development in the state, to help further establish it as one of the emerging economies in Nigeria. They are also designed to enhance the well-being of the inhabitants of Ogun State.
Governor Dapo Abiodun has already listed a number of other projects which his administration would be focusing on in the year 2022
Amongst the projects listed was a water supply scheme, ‘water kiosking’ as it was tagged. The project is intended to solve the water supply problem in some areas of Ogun State. He stated that the initiative would ensure water is made available across the State.
He announced plans to implement a multi modal transport scheme, which will begin with the modern bus mass transit.
He also declared that several roads would be completed and commissioned in the course of the year. Amongst them are the Denro – Ishashi – Ifo road; the Ilaro – Owode Road; the Panseke – Adigbe Road Abeokuta, as well as several other road projects that are to receive attention during the course of the year.
The Governor also disclosed health schemes directed towards the welfare of those who reside within the state.
