A committee soliciting support for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has disclosed that Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 24 states have endorsed him for President in the 2023 elections.
Leader of the Technical Committee for Atiku, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, spoke during a visit of his committee to Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
He said Adamawa was the 24th state his committee was visiting and that all the 24 states showed overwhelming support for Atiku.
Dokpesi, the founder of DAAR Communications, thanked the people of Adamawa for supporting the former Vice-President; stressing that insecurity, disunity, and unemployment had set the country backwards. Dokpesi further said the Northeast is the only zone that has not produced Nigeria’s President since 1966.
Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri promised that the state would rally round the former Vice-President to enable him realise his presidential ambition, considering the fact that he is a son of the state.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Chief Crowther Seth, urged Nigerians to continue to support Atiku to get to the coveted seat.
The state’s PDP Chairman Tahir Shehu expressed the confidence that Atiku would liberate the country from underdevelopment and insecurity.
Meanwhile, this further adds to widespread speculation that the former VP will give the Presidency another shot in 2023 having being the PDP flagbearer in the last elections in 2019. The Turaki Adamawa has not hidden his intention to contest again although he has not officially declared interest.
The current leadership structure of the PDP further adds more intrigues to his ambitions as the current Working Committee of the Party is being headed by a Chairman who is from the North-Central zone of the country.
