World leaders have begun to congratulate Joe Biden after media reports showed that the Democratic candidate had won at the polls. Former President Barack Obama joined others in the celebratory mood as many flooded the streets of Washington, others took to Twitter. The World Leaders have also begun to congratulate Joe Biden on his win against incumbent President Donald Trump.

Micheal Martin, the Irish Prime Minister tweeted ‘I want to congratulate the new President-Elect of the USA @JoeBiden’. Martin noted that Joe Biden had been a friend of the Irish government for a long time. He also hinted at Irish heritage of the elected US President when he said ‘I also look forward to welcoming him back home when the circumstances allow!’.

Justin Trudeau, the Canadian Prime Minister noted that he ‘looked forward to working with President-Elect Biden,’ and Vice President-Elect, Kamala Harris, as they collaborate to help tackle the world’s greatest challenges.

Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister congratulated Biden and Harris. Johnson said that the US remains a powerful ally in driving shared priorities especially on climate change, trade, and security.

Emmanuel Macron, President of France congratulated them. He tweeted ‘The Americans have chosen their President. Congratulations @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris! We have a lot to do to overcome today’s challenges. Let’s work together!’

While congratulating the President-Elect of the USA, Angela Markel, the German Chancellor, said that the German Transatlantic ties with the US were ‘irreplaceable’. The German Foreign Minister Corroborated when he noted that Biden’s election was a ‘new start’ for Trans-Atlantic relations.

The European Union congratulated President-Elect Biden and his Vice President-Elect, Harris, on reaching the mark of the electoral votes that validated their victory. This was made available in a Joint Statement by
President Ursula Von Der Leyen, EU Commission President, and Charles Michel, President of the European Council.

Kyriaskos Mitsotakis, the President of Greece also congratulated Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. The Greek President described Biden as a true friend of Greece. He said ‘I’m certain that under his presidency the relationship between our countries will grow even stronger.’
