The Nigerian Senate has called on the State House to put a stop to President Muhammadu Buhari’s foreign medical trips in order to help the government to focus and hasten the full development and functionality of the State House clinic.

The Senate Committee on Federal Character and Intergovernmental Affairs issued the warning when Tijani Umar, Permanent Secretary of the State House, presented his 2021 budget estimated at N19.7billion out of which N1.3billion was appropriated for the State House Clinic.

Following Umar’s budget defence, Senator Danjuma La’ah, Chairman of the Committee, gave the approval but premised it on the condition that the President and other top officials of his government should not be flown out of the country for medical care.

In relation to this, the Permanent Secretary of the State House disclosed that once the budget is approved, the State House administration would work things out and make proper arrangements for necessary medical pieces of equipment for the President and other top members of his administration.
