A man identified as Festus has narrated the hell he went through while in Libya consequent on illegal immigration. According to Festus, he said he was destined for Italy and was advised he could go through from Libya and get to his destination on road in less than a week. The Nigerian, however, said that he almost died as a result of the journey if not for the intervention of God.

Festus further recounted the predominance of the slave trade in this modern-day and age. He alleged that he was sold in Libya countless times and had to revert to his family members to raise money for him to effect his release.

What is particularly shocking about Festus revelation is the fact that he mentioned that Nigerians were the ones that sold themselves to the Arabs maintaining it was God that saved him when he was equally sold. He alleged to have been shot in the leg when he and a few others tried to escape.

The Libya returnee said he spent three months in prison and advised other Nigerians to stay put in their country rather than travel in search of greener pastures where it is not even the case.
