The FirstMobile App, a digital bank application attributed to First Bank has been awarded the 2020 Best Mobile Banking App in the Global Finance Best Digital Bank Awards 2020. This was revealed in a statement released by Mr Gbenga Shobo, the Deputy Managing Director of the bank.

The achievement is anchored on the bank’s relative strength, success, and the efficiency of its online products and services.

Joseph D. Giarraputo, Publisher and Editorial Director of Global Finance, while speaking on the 2020 Digital Bank Awards, said, ‘This year, a global pandemic accelerated the transition to digital banking, but forward-thinking banks were already on that road. The Digital Bank Awards hone in on the institutions that are leading the shift toward a new world of banking.’

Global Finance revealed the various criteria considered in selecting winning banks. This includes success in getting clients to use digital offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from digital initiatives, the strength of strategy for attracting and servicing digital customers, breadth of product offerings, web/mobile site design and functionality, and growth of digital customers.

It was made known that winners were chosen based on the comprehensive and in-depth evaluation presented by a top-level panel of judges at Infosys, a global leader in consulting, technology and outsourcing.

In recognition of the award, Mr. Gbenga Shobo, said, ‘the Global Finance 2020 Best Mobile Banking App award is testament to our continuous commitment to putting our customers first which was demonstrated in our recent upgrade of the leading mobile banking application, FirstMobile.’

He proceeded by saying that the, ‘FirstMobile is designed to suit the social pattern and lifestyle of all our customers… we dedicate this award to all customers and appreciate Global Finance for the recognition.’
