As the United States holds her general elections today, Tuesday, 03 November, 2020, some Nigerians names have been listed as contestants for vital positions at the federal, state, and local levels.
The names include Oye Owolewa, Esther Agbaje, Yomi Faparusi, Yinka Faleti, Paul Akinjo, Adewunmi Kuforiji, April Ademiluyi, Ngozi Akubuike and Benjamin Osemenam.
Oye Owolewa hails from Kwara. He has a Ph.D. degree in pharmacy from Northeastern University, Boston. He is contesting under the platform of the Democratic Party to represent the District of Columbia.
Esther Agbaje is a 35-year old daughter of Nigerian immigrants, she is contesting under the platform of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labour-Party (DFLP), an affiliate of the Democratic Party.
Yomi Faparusi is from Ibadan, and he is seeking election as an independent candidate representing Tennessee in the congress.
Yinka Faleti is a Lagos-born migrant and is the Democratic Party nominee for Missouri Secretary of State. Faleti’s personal website reports that he ‘served in the active-duty United States Army as a combat arms officer in tank units for over six years and attained the rank of Captain after two deployments overseas. He served in Kuwait as part of ‘Operation Desert Spring’ prior to 9/11 and ‘Operation Enduring Freedom’ in response to 9/11.’
Paul Akinjo who hails from Ondo is contesting for election to the California State Assembly under the platform of the Democratic Party to represent District 12. Akinjo is said to have served as Vice Mayor of Lathrop, California. He also served in the US army reserve from 1982 to 1989.

Adewunmi Kuforiji who holds a degree in accounting and a Master’s Degree in business administration from Delaware State University is vying for a seat to represent District 34 at the Delaware House of Representatives.
April Ademiluyi is contesting at the local government level for Judge of the seventh circuit court in Prince George’s county, Maryland under the platform of the Democratic Party.
Ngozi Akubuike, a legal practitioner, is also contesting at the local government level, and is an independent candidate for Judge of the Minnesota 2nd District Court Position 8.
Benjamin Osemenam is an engineer with the Minnesota Department of
transportation, he is vying under the platform of the National Party for a seat in the Brooklyn Party City Council of Minnesota to represent East District.
