A Federal High Court on Monday has ordered that two men be remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre for taking part in a major multimillion Euro scam. They were arrested for failing to supply Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) having collected funds from a European businessman.

The alleged duos are Babatunde Adesanya, a 50-year old graduate of the University of Lagos, and Akinpelu Abass, the Managing Director of Musterpoint Investment Nigeria Limited.

Justice Anwuli Chikere deferred the case until Nov. 9 to hear the application for bail.

Abubakar Malami, SAN, the Attorney -General of the Federation and Minister of Justice had previously alleged that the defendants were members of a sophisticated transnational criminal network.

The Federal Government also revealed that they cloned the corporate Website of ILBN Holdings BV, Holland to enable the transaction and defrauded a businessman, Freiherr Hahn, a representative of the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The defendants face a 10-count charge, The charge includes, fraudulently obtaining 1.5 million Euros and another 880, 000 Euros as an advance payment for the supply of PPEs, worth 14.7 million Euros from Hahn.

Both parties pleaded not guilty.

Ms Bunmi Aina-Craig, Counsel to the defendants, applied for bail for her clients but the prosecution rejected, stating that they had not been served with the application for bail.
