Ex-Bbnaija housemate, Nengi, who emerged the second runner up in the popular TV reality show, is tipped to feature in the remake of the 1994 Nollywood classic, Rattlesnake. The BBNaija star who shared the trailer via her Twitter handle would be making her Nollywood debut with the remake titled Rattlesnake: the Ahanna Story which is equally set to premiere on November 13th, 2020 across all cinemas in the country.

The remake of Rattlesnake, directed by Ramsey Nouah with copyrights to Charles Okpaleke’s Play Network, is originally a Nollywood classic by the late Amaka Igwe. The movie tells the story of Ahanna Okolo, a young boy, who found himself caught up in the web of crime owing to the series of dismal events in his childhood.

According to Ramsey Nouah, the idea of a remake of Rattlesnake was to celebrate the original producer of the movie, Amaka Igwe, whom he exhorted as one of Nollywood’s best hands. He further averred that ‘making a remake of her film will definitely bring back those memories.’

Charles Odeh, one of the co-producers, who stated that he took up his role for the movie for its promotion of indigenous values, also made it known that coming up with the movie in the middle of a global pandemic wasn’t altogether easy. In Mr Odeh’s words,

‘We had to be extra conscious of hygiene. Moving here and there and having to sanitize and wash our hands at every point. We had a PR Health, they gave us sanitizers, text kits, face shields, and masks. It was not easy but we had to do that just to be safe.’

Mr Odeh also spoke about the casting of which the BBNaija star, Nengi, is a crew member.

‘While Nicole was writing, she created very strong characters for the story and we had to find actors that match the energy. It was during the COVID time, it was very challenging, we went online, looked for actors, invited them for reading, and each time we found an actor we shared with the crew members’.

Sonny McDonn is the only character from the original movie to feature in the remake. Mr McDonn, who played the role of the main character’s father in the original movie, is returning with the same role in the remake.

The award-winning Nigerian music producer, Larry Ndianefo aka Larry Gaaga is also producing the movie’s soundtrack.

Nengi has expressed her elation in making her first Nollywood appearance. Her fans also received the news in good faith commending and congratulating her for attaining another milestone in her career journey.
