The question of unpaid as well as delayed payment of salaries and other allowances between the NFF and the Super Eagles team, has remained an issue that has dragged on for years. It appears that the NFF is always getting called out for either not paying or delaying remunerations of working members under the sport body, most especially the coaches and players of the national team.
Following this abysmal trend, players of the Nigerian national team, who are tipped to feature in the 2021 AFCON qualifier against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone on November 9, 2020 in Edo State, have demanded that both the NFF and the sports ministry get their bonuses, daily allowances and flight ticket refunds ready before the game. From reports garnered, the players vowed not to accept any excuse for delayed payment as is the usual case.

In view of the above, sources claim that the NFF is looking for the needed funds for the match against Sierra Leone. There are reports that the Nigerian football body has written several letters to the supervising sports ministry asking for funds to sponsor the upcoming game against the Leone Stars.
It was further reported that some top officials of the NFF had visited the sports ministry in Abuja in a bid to get money to send an advance team to Benin City to make preparations for the arrival of the players. The efforts coupled with that of yesterday however proved abortive.
The home and away fixtures, which was moved from March 27 and 31 owing to the novel coronavirus, will hold on November 9 and 19 respectively.
