In a statement issued on Monday by Paulinus Nsirim, the Rivers State commissioner for information, the Governor revealed that, since the police has dissolved the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), there was ‘no need for any form of protest against a unit of the police force that no longer exists.’


The public outcry, with the #EndSARS and #SARSMustEnd hashtags have gone viral both on national and international level.
Despite the fact that, Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector General of Police and President Muhammadu Buhari have publicly announced the nationwide dissolution of the notorious Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), the SARS personnel are still carrying on threateningly on the streets, harassing, manhandling and killings of unarmed civilians.

Mr Wike affirmed that, law enforcement agencies have been given directives to enforce the ban and ‘bring violators to book.’


According to Governor Wike, following the declaration from the President and the police boss, further protests are now unlawful.


According to the Governor, as announced by the Commissioner, he said, ‘The Rivers State Government hereby wishes to inform the general public that all forms of protests have been banned throughout the state.’
‘Therefore, all proposed protests under #EndSars campaign are hereby prohibited.’


‘Government took this decision because the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had already scrapped the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.’


‘Therefore, there is no need for any form of protest against a unit of the police force that no longer exists.’


‘Parents and guardians are therefore advised to ensure that their children or wards do not violate this order.’
