The Senate has announced that the 2021 budget presentation by the Presidency will last for only one hour due to the COVID19 pandemic.

Senator Ahmed Lawan, the Senate President gave the conditions meant to guide the budget presentation by President Buhari. He said that the House will keep to the safety health rules to guide against COVID19 such as ensuring social distancing in the House, making sure that all participants
wear face masks. He also noted that only ‘key and relevant people’ will be allowed into the chambers with the President for the presentation.

Senator Lawan read a letter from President Buhari who requested the audience of the lawmakers in the Senate and House of Representatives for the presentation of the budget.

The Senate will engage and pass the 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) before President Buhari submits the 2021 Budget.
