11 suspected oil bunkers were arrested in Rivers State by the Nigerian Navy. This was revealed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Port Harcourt Zonal Office recently.

It was gathered that the suspects were arrested and handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday, September 28, 2020, by the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base in the Bonny area of the state. They were arrested with 320 drums of petroleum product containing the Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel).

Wilson Uwujaren, Head of Media and Publicity of the body said that the 11 suspects were Indongesit Mfon; Asuquo James; Samuel Bassey; Blessed Bassey; Victor Attah; Edet Okon; Nse Okon; Innocent Effiong; Njok Okon, Uduak Asuquo and Effiong Asuquo.

Uwujaren added that Ani Stanley, a Principal Detective and Superintendent of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, received the suspects on behalf of Abdulkarim Chukkol, the EFCC Port Harcourt Zonal Head, and expressed satisfaction over the synergy existing between the Navy and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The EFCC spokesperson noted that a thorough investigation would be done.
